Advising

It is important to take advantage of the advising system available at Northeastern. Although there are circumstances when you might 'go it alone,' talking to an advisor can save time and ensure that you are headed in the right direction. Advising is important not only for making course and scheduling decisions, but also in your career planning.

There are several advisors available for you:

Faculty in the Department of Political Science

Members of the faculty provide a variety of advising opportunities. Some provide specialized advising, like pre-law, while others serve a more general advising role. Importantly, one member of the faculty serves as your primary academic advisor. When you first join the department this person is assigned to you. However, after one semester at Northeastern, you may elect to change advisors to someone who more closely fits your academic and career interests. To do so, complete the one-page petition available in the departmental office (303 Meserve Hall).

Listed below are the initial advising assignments in the fall of 2006. Based on your last name, this table identifies your initial academic advisor within the department.
