- Supports research, conferences and other activities that focus on problems of democratic development. Current projects include studies of the political implications of terrorism policy in the post 9/11 era and the role of political parties in democratic development.

Community-Based Research Initiative

- Each year a team of upper-level undergraduate students conducts a research project with support from civic partners to analyze an important policy problem or issue. A report is prepared and presented to key stakeholders. Students earn four academic credits.
- Directed by Professor David Rochefort.
Third World Views of the Holocaust International Symposium

- Disseminates research on how consciousness of the Shoah (Nazi genocide of the Jews in mid-twentieth century Europe) is integrated into non-Western worldviews. Based on a pioneering encounter of invited scholars, writers and intellectuals from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
